About Me
My name is Kevin Arnold. This will be my sixth year teaching, fourth year at Dilworth and I am very excited to be here. I am originally from Bristol, New Hampshire, a small town a few hours north of Boston. I graduated in 2012 with a degree in History and Secondary Education from Keene State College. I lived in Florida for a couple of years following graduation but moved to Reno a couple of summers ago. After being here for a year I am glad to call this community my home. I really enjoy skiing, hiking, swimming, and reading. Feel free to contact me at any time.

Course Description
This course is designed to provide students’ with the analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with problems in United States History. Students will learn how to assess historical materials and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship. Students will write extensively to perfect their essay writing and critical thinking skills in a non-fictional context in preparation for high school academics.
The content of this course will cover United States history from the Early Colonization to the Civil War. It covers all major aspects of Americans history during that period including: political, diplomatic, intellectual, cultural, economic and social. In addition, the course deals extensively with learning how to read, understand, analyze and interpret a wide variety of both primary and secondary sources.
Mastery of content will be achieved through a myriad of avenues including regular in class discussions and debates, writing of focused essays, and research projects. Finally, if the past is any guide to the present- and I believe that you will learn that it is- this course will be one of the most enjoyable and beneficial that you will take in your middle school career.

The mission of Dilworth STEM Academy is to create a safe, effective, and rigorous learning culture which will provide students with the foundation they need to be college and career ready by the time they graduate from high school. We believe that students learn best through Project-Based Learning which is driven by the combined efforts of students, staff, parents, and the community.
Acerca de mí
Mi nombre es Kevin Arnold. Llevo cuatro años trabajando como profesor y este año será mi segundo año en Dilworth y me hace mucha ilusión estar aquí. Soy de Bristol, New Hampshire, un pueblo pequeño a tres horas al norte de Boston. Me gradué de Keene State College en 2012 donde estudiaba historia y pedagogía. Vivía en Florida durante un par de años después de graduarme, pero me mudé a Reno hace un par de veranos. Después de estar aquí un año me alegra mucho decir que me sienta en casa en esta comunidad. Me encanta esquiar, hacer senderismo, nadar y leer. No duden en ponerse en contacto conmigo con lo que sea.
Descripción del curso
Este curso está planificado para que los alumnos desarrollen las habilidades analíticas y el conocimiento factual para considerar críticamente los problemas en la historia de los Estados Unidos. Aprenderán cómo evaluar los materiales históricos y cómo analizar la evidencia y las interpretaciones presentadas en la escolaridad histórica. Los alumnos escribirán ampliamente para perfeccionar sus capacidades escritas y para fomentar su razonamiento analítico en un contexto de no ficción para prepararse para sus estudios en la escuela secundaria.
El contenido de este curso abarcará la historia de los Estados Unidos desde la colonización hasta la guerra civil.
